From the old trail, the lower portion of Trace Ridge trail makes a hard left onto what used to be called Wash Creek trail and descends steeply through the edge of the logged area (on the right in this photo). As you come down the hill, it then makes a hard right onto the newly built section of trail (to the left in this photo). The stretch of Wash Creek trail behind where I was standing to take this photo is still called Wash Creek.
