Parts of the Fletcher Creek trail pass
through beautiful, lush, fern-filled sections of cove
hardwood forest, similar to other Southern Appalachian stream bottoms.
Dense ferns growing around the bases of tall, straight
tuliptrees make it look like a forest within a forest.
Other common species in this environment include rosebay
rhododendron, eastern hemlocks, and salamanders.
