The pine trees in the foreground are Red Spruce, and the ones in the background
are Fraser Fir. The Firs are being ravaged by a small insect, the Balsam Wooly
Adelgid, which probably killed the tree in the picture. However, several healthy
spruces and firs survive along this trail, making for some incredible scenery.
