A panoramic view from the Black Mountain trail overlook with landmarks
identified. Looking Glass
Rock (3969') and John Rock are in the Davidson River Valley. The
headwaters for this river are at
Deep Gap, to the right of Pilot Mountain. The Fish Hatchery is at the
base of John Rock.
The foreground ridge with Coontree Mountain on it separates the Davidson
River valley from the Avery
Creek valley. Avery Creek is where the Horse Stables are located and the
Black Mountain ride starts.
